Our Story

Every cup of tea has a story.

Some tell the story of a mountain, a season, or a tea farmer who has spent decades perfecting their craft. Others tell a story that is deeply personal.

Hebrews Tea Co. was born from both.

My name is Samuel, and I've always believed that the best tea is about more than flavour. Tea has a remarkable way of bringing people together. It slows us down in a world that rarely stops, creates space for conversation, and reminds us to appreciate life's simple moments.

Long before Hebrews Tea Co. existed, those values were first lived out in my own home.

My mother was a hardworking housewife who devoted herself to our family. She wasn't someone who sought recognition, yet through her quiet faithfulness she taught me some of life's greatest lessons. She showed me the dignity of honest work, the importance of doing even the smallest tasks with excellence, and the joy of serving others through simple acts of love and hospitality.

When I was sixteen years old, she passed away.

Although she left this world far too early, what she taught me never did. The values she lived out continue to shape who I am today, guiding the way I work, the way I treat people, and ultimately the way I chose to build this business.

One verse in particular was especially dear to her:

"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe."
Hebrews 12:28

To my mother, this wasn't simply a favourite verse—it was a way of life. She lived with gratitude, finding joy not in what she had, but in the unshakable hope she had in Christ. That same verse continues to remind me that gratitude is not dependent on circumstances but is the response of those who know they have received God's unshakable kingdom.

When it came time to name this business, there was only one name that felt right.

Hebrews Tea Co.

The name honours both the book of Hebrews and the woman whose faith, gratitude, and example continue to shape my life.

A few years ago, my wife and I travelled to Taiwan for what we thought would simply be a holiday.

Instead, it became the beginning of Hebrews Tea Co.

As we explored Taiwan's mountains, villages and tea-growing regions in Alishan, we were deeply moved by the warmth and generosity of the people we met. Everywhere we went, we experienced genuine hospitality. Tea was never just a beverage—it was an invitation to slow down, to share stories, and to enjoy one another's company.

We also came to admire the hardworking spirit of the Taiwanese people. Behind every cup of tea were generations of growers who had devoted their lives to cultivating the land and refining their craft. Producing exceptional oolong tea wasn't simply a livelihood; it was an art, shaped by patience, experience and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

As we spent time with tea farmers and learned more about their craft, we realised that, like many traditional arts, this heritage faced the challenge of being passed on to future generations. We felt privileged to witness something so beautiful and began asking ourselves a simple question:

What if we could bring a small part of Taiwan back with us to Australia?

Not just the tea itself, but the values we had come to admire—the hospitality, the craftsmanship, the generosity, and the invitation to slow down and savour life's meaningful moments.

That journey became the beginning of Hebrews Tea Co.

Today, we partner directly with passionate tea growers in Taiwan who have dedicated their lives to producing exceptional tea. Every tea is carefully selected, every order is packed by hand, and every parcel is sent with gratitude.

More than anything, we hope that every cup creates an opportunity to pause, gather with loved ones, and enjoy meaningful conversation. In a world that is constantly rushing, tea has a unique way of reminding us to simply be present.

Hebrews Tea Co. exists to share more than authentic Taiwanese tea.

It exists to share the values that inspired it—gratitude, hospitality, craftsmanship, and genuine care for others.

Whether you're enjoying your first cup with us or have been part of our journey for years, thank you for allowing us to become part of your story.

From our family to yours,

Samuel
Founder, Hebrews Tea Co.

"May every cup remind us to slow down, give thanks, and share life with those around us."
